In less than a week, the ‘Israeli’ occupation of of Palestine has broken every promise it made in the ceasefire agreement it signed. It has:
- Rained over 100 airstrikes on Gaza.
- Destroyed a bus carrying 11 family members, 7 of them children, martyring all inside.
- Blocked all aid and kept all crossings closed, continuing its campaign of starvation. Over 450 people have now been starved to death by ‘Israel.’
‘Israeli’ officials have proclaimed on live television their intent to resume their genocidal war now that their POWs have been returned, in direct violation of the ceasefire they agreed to.
Denver Anti-War Action reminds the United States that they are a guarantor of this ceasefire deal. This means it is the US’s responsibility to hold ‘Israel’ to the terms of the deal. The US must immediately stop all transfer of weapons and money to the occupation. We denounce our senators for quietly approving a $914 billion defense budget that fulfills several surveillance and weapons funding requests from the pro-‘Israel’ lobbying group AIPAC.
We cannot idly hope the same politicians arming ‘Israel’ will hold ‘Israel’ accountable out of the goodwill of their hearts. The ceasefire was brought about by public resistance against genocide erupting across the world, and it is by maintaining this resistance that we can hold ‘Israel’ and the United States accountable.
Let us be very clear. A real ceasefire and accountability are just the start. The Palestinian resistance are the ones who will free Palestine – and the rest of us must follow their lead, apply more militant pressure than ever before, and fight not just for accountability, but for an end to Zionism, for the return of all of Palestine to its rightful inhabitants, and for a Free Palestine, from the River to the Sea.
